Brighton (Post Code: 4017)
Brighton is a bayside suburb in Queensland’s south east. It is situated approximately 20km north of the Brisbane CBD and is a small but developing coastal town, with views of Moreton Bay and Moreton Island. It is closely linked and identified with the neighbouring Sandgate.
The suburb itself is a mix of the old and the new. You will find historical buildings intermingled with modern housing. It has a unique charm and a friendly atmosphere. The population of Brighton is a mix of established and young family groups.
Recently the waterfront has been re-developed and on any given day you will see it is a very popular destination for kite boarders, who use the flat water as their platform and trawlers who bring in the popular Moreton Bay Bug.
In terms of amenities, Brighton has a variety of public and private schools located in nearby Sandgate and a TAFE located at the nearby Bracken Ridge. It has many local shops and supermarkets; a popular swimming pool; and great bikeways and walking tracks that are all based on the coast with great views.
The Suburb is linked to the North via the Gateway motorway and to the South by the Houghton Highway. It has easy access to public transport with Sandgate train station linking to the Brisbane CBD only a short drive or bus trip away.
